The Fifth Floor: A Hip Destination

On Monday, February 2nd, I (Emily) will be bringing my New College Book Arts class to the fifth floor to check out the scene. On the schedule so far: perusing the fifth floor gallery (currently featuring the complex, colorful, conceptual concoctions of Sarah Bryant), and tours of the bindery and type shop. If any of you talented peeps are available to show some of your work to a group of eager UA undergrads, I (and they) would appreciate it a lot! And if anyone's printing at that time, maybe you won't mind if we stand around and gawk at you for a little while...

The tour will begin at 11, and will last as long as it takes.

P.S. This blog is a great idea. Thanks to the Printing II kids for setting it up!

Coffee

Thanks for setting this up, Ally. I hope folks want to share their daily experience in the book arts studios and about town. This morning if we were at Cafe Francesca in Havana we could have great coffees (like we did in December).

New Blog!

The MFA Program in Book Arts at the University of Alabama is home to book artists of many unique backgrounds, areas of expertise, and a wide array of talent. The current Printing II students decided to create a space online where the Book Arts students could post updates on the daily joys (and struggles) of the time spent on the fifth floor of Gorgas Library. This is a place to document projects, adventures, tears wept over the SP-20, and every well-executed rainbow roll. Feel free to post pictures, announcements, events, and type shop daily happenings-- and we definitely don't mind recipes.

Happy Posting from the Printing II Crew:
